# Quick Check-in

> Learn how DingTalk Quick Check-in works: an automatic attendance clock-in service you enable voluntarily. It never performs background positioning and only compares locations locally within clock-in and clock-out time ranges, safeguarding your Location privacy.

Before you enable Quick Check-in, make sure you understand and agree to how it works.

## 1. Turn Quick Check-in on or off freely

DingTalk Quick Check-in is an automatic attendance clock-in service developed and provided by DingTalk. You decide whether to enable, use, and manage it on your own, **without being restricted by the Admin authorized by your Organization**.

## 2. Never locates you in the background

To complete the automatic clock-in, Quick Check-in accesses your location once each time DingTalk is opened from the background or the network is switched while you are using DingTalk, within a specific time window. It then compares locally on your phone whether you have arrived within the attendance range.

**Time windows:**

* **Clock-in**: from "2 hours before start time" to "1 hour after start time"
* **Clock-out**: from "end time" to "4 hours after end time"

**Quick Check-in will not access your location in any of the following cases:**

* DingTalk is not open on your phone.
* The clock-in is already complete (unless you have turned on Auto-update for the clock-out record).
* The current time falls outside the time windows.

## 3. Protecting your location privacy

  Quick Check-in compares your location locally on your phone. If your location matches the attendance range, the system records and uploads your current location and clocks you in automatically. After a successful clock-in, it no longer accesses your location.

  If your location does not match the attendance range set by your Company, Quick Check-in stops. Your location is neither recorded nor uploaded. Quick Check-in will never upload any location outside the attendance range.
