# Chats FAQ

> Common questions about Chats, Group Settings, message notifications, and search — including how to start chats, manage groups, mute conversations, and find shared files.

## Chats

    Click the search bar at the top of DingTalk desktop app, search for the person, and select the result to open the conversation.

    Click **+** in the upper-right corner, select **New Chat**, choose people in **Select Contact**, then click **Confirm**.

  <Accordion id="q3" title="How do I format a message?">
    Click **Aa** in the message composer to open the rich text toolbar.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion id="q4" title="How do I send a message without interrupting others?">
    Type your message, click the dropdown arrow next to **Send**, then select **Set silent**.

    Open a conversation, click **+** in the message composer, then select **Video Conference**.

## Group Settings

## Notifications

    Open the conversation > gear icon > **Mute Notifications**, or right-click the conversation > **Message Do Not Disturb**.
