# Configure Group Chat Settings

> Configure group chat settings: view group information, adjust personal preferences such as nickname and notifications, open Group Management for advanced controls, clear messages, or quit the group.

Use **Group Settings** to manage group information, your personal preferences, and group-level controls.

To open Group Settings, open a group chat and click the gear icon in the upper-right corner.

## Group information

Use the group information section to manage basic group details.

| Setting              | What it does                   |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------ |
| **Name**             | View or edit the group name.   |
| **Notice**           | Open group notices.            |
| **Group Invitation** | Open group invitation options. |

## Personal group settings

These settings affect only your own experience in the group.

| Setting                  | What it does                                           |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **My Nickname in Group** | Set your display name in this group.                   |
| **Group Alias**          | Set your local alias for the group.                    |
| **Stick to Top**         | Keep the group near the top of your conversation list. |
| **Mute Notifications**   | Mute notifications for this group.                     |

## Group Management

Open **Group Management** when you need to manage admins, permissions, joining rules, or group-level features.

| Setting                                              | What it does                                              |
| ---------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Admin** / **Add**                                  | Add group admins.                                         |
| **Mute Settings**                                    | Open group mute settings.                                 |
| **Group permission settings**                        | Control member permissions for group features.            |
| **Group Quick Bar**                                  | Configure the group quick bar.                            |
| **Join group permission**                            | Configure how new members can join.                       |
| **How long can new members view their chat history** | Configure how much previous history new members can view. |
| **Group Calendar**                                   | Open the group calendar setting.                          |
| **Group can receive mails**                          | Configure whether the group can receive mail.             |
| **Turn on automatic synchronization to Ding Drive**  | Synchronize group files to Ding Drive.                    |
| **Turn off Private Chat**                            | Disable private chat entry points from the group.         |
| **Transfer Group Ownership**                         | Transfer ownership to another member.                     |

## Clear messages or quit the group

* To clear local messages, open Group Settings > **Clear Messages**.

* To leave the group, open Group Settings > **Quit**.
