# Start a Video Conference from Chats

> Start a video conference from the message composer in a direct message, or from the group chat toolbar to bring multiple group members into the meeting.

When a chat discussion needs a live conversation, you can start a video conference directly from **Chats**.

## Start from the message composer

1. Open a conversation.

2. Click **+** in the message composer.

3. Select **Video Conference**.

DingTalk opens the video conference flow from the current conversation.

## Start from a group chat toolbar

In a group chat, you can also use the video meeting icon in the upper-right corner of the conversation.

Use this entry when the meeting is related to the group discussion and you want to continue with the same members or topic.
