# Auto-Approval Rules

> YiDA approval processes support auto-approval rules, including merging all initiators, merging adjacent approvers, and deduplicating approvers, to streamline approvals and boost efficiency.

This topic describes the three auto-approval rules available in YiDA and how each rule applies during the approval process.

## Feature Overview

YiDA currently supports three auto-approval rules.

* Merge all initiators: If the approver or executor of a step is the current process initiator, the step is approved automatically when the process reaches it. In other words, if the approver or executor of the current step is the initiator, the approval passes automatically.

As shown below, when the step approver is Yi Xiaoda, the approval task is executed automatically.

* Merge adjacent approvers: If the approver or executor of the current step is the same as that of the previous step, the current step is approved automatically.

As shown below, when the approvers of adjacent steps are the same, the approval is completed automatically.

* Deduplicate approvers: If the same approver appears more than once in a process, that approver needs to approve only once. Subsequent steps are approved automatically.

As shown below, the subsequent approver **Ding Duoduo** completes the approval automatically.

## Notes

* Adjacent steps refer to approver or executor steps that are adjacent on the workflow design page, not adjacent approvers after the process is initiated. CC recipients do not count toward adjacent step slots.

For example, in the process shown below, all `Approver ①` steps are adjacent steps.

* You can configure whether the approver or executor is allowed to be empty.
* In addition to configuring auto-approval rules at the step level, you can also configure global approval rules. Global approval rules have lower priority than step-level auto-approval rules.
