1. Getting started with DingTalk Whiteboard

DingTalk Whiteboard is an online collaborative whiteboard that supports real-time editing by multiple users. Built on a boundless, freely scalable canvas, it lets every collaborator create together using brushes, text, shapes, images, and many other elements, breaking the barriers of time and space and sparking the collision of ideas. It also supports the full workflow from brainstorming to content management, building an inspiration space for your team.

The built-in templates in DingTalk Whiteboard offer a wide range of options, letting you reuse industry best practices with a single click and boost your team’s creation and collaboration efficiency. How to start creating

Desktop entry: Open DingTalk, click Docs in the left navigation, then click Create and select Whiteboard. iPad: Open DingTalk, tap More > Docs, tap the blue + at the bottom, and select Whiteboard.

2. Basic operations in DingTalk Whiteboard

🎨 Creation features

Select an element to edit it: change color, resize, move, modify attributes, and more. Drag to move or zoom the canvas. With the brush and eraser, you can freely draw on the canvas, and drag to adjust line size. ✅ Take notes and annotations ✅ Highlight key points during discussions ✅ Draw fun content Insert a Text Box to enter text, and freely configure its border, background, Font Size, color, and more. Insert a variety of shapes. The shape library includes basic shapes, mathematical symbols, callouts, buttons, and more — making it easy to create flowcharts, business architecture diagrams, milestones, and other common charts. Insert connectors to create associations between basic shapes. Switch between different arrow styles and precisely adjust the connector path. Insert images and flexibly resize them, fill colors, change border styles, and more. Insert emoji icons to highlight important information and make canvas content more lively and engaging. Insert frames. A frame can be thought of as a “shot” or “scene” — select canvas elements to form a frame. In presentation mode, each frame corresponds to one slide of the presentation.

Whether in a Video Meeting or an online discussion, sharing a DingTalk Whiteboard bridges the distance — bringing the meeting room whiteboard online. It lets users communicate freely, accelerate decision-making, and collaborate more efficiently.

🔒 Manage permissions

Just like other DingTalk Docs, click > Manage permissions in the upper-right corner of the whiteboard to set user permissions. Four permission types are supported: Can edit, Can view/download, View only, and Hide chat permission.

🌠 Export and download

Click > Download to local in the upper-right corner of the whiteboard to export the whiteboard content as an image.

🌟 Presentation feature

  • Click Present in the upper-right corner, and all frames on the canvas will be presented in the order they were inserted.
  • To adjust the order, click the arrow next to the Present button to view the presentation path, and drag with the mouse to reorder.
