Cross-app, also known as cross-app data retrieval, lets an app pull form data from other YiDA apps to enable data interconnection between them. Currently, only form data from other apps within your organization is supported.

Use Cases

Data Silos

  • As business complexity grows and low-code adoption deepens, organizations often run multiple YiDA apps to address different business scenarios.
  • When data cannot flow between apps, data silos emerge at the YiDA app level within the organization.
  • Cross-app communication and data retrieval make the digital management of business operations more systematic.

Data Sharing Between Legacy and New Reports

When rolling out new product features, we take a cautious approach to automatically upgrading existing apps to ensure stability. New capabilities—such as the new YiDA report and the association list—apply to newly created apps first. For example, to use the new report:
  • Create a new “App B” without affecting the forms in your existing “App A”.
  • In “App B”, configure Cross-app to retrieve the required form data from “App A”.
  • In “App B”, select the data as usual to build your report.

Data Sharing Between Legacy and New Apps

Because YiDA’s underlying architecture has been fully upgraded, the legacy version is no longer maintained. However, a small number of legacy YiDA apps remain in long-term maintenance. YiDA continues to explore solutions so that early YiDA partners can benefit from new features as much as possible. Previously
  • Users had to create a new app and rebuild every form from scratch.
Now
  • YiDA supports creating datasets from cross-app forms. With the cross-app capability, you can easily share data between legacy and new apps.

Steps

  1. Sign in to the YiDA workbench and open the app settings page.
  2. Click Data Factory > Datasets.
  3. Click Create dataset > From cross-app.
  4. In the Add cross-app form side panel, select the cross-app form to add, and then click Confirm.

Advanced Scenarios

App copy: When an app is copied, its cross-app form items are copied along with it.
